BNP deploys Traderforce in Asia

French data display vendor Traderforce has halved the latency of its terminals to meet the needs of BNP Paribas's offices in Asia. Vendor officials say a key component of this strategy is the use of BT Radianz's Proximity service in the region. BNP Paribas has deployed 110 positions of Traderforce’s thin-client data display screens to its private banking advisory business and dealing desks in Taipei, Singapore and Hong Kong, says Traderforce chief executive Jean-Michel Blanco. The bank was unavailable for comment. Traderforce, which went live with Proximity in April, is using the service for direct access to exchanges where clients want to utilize its integrated trading and algorithm functions, which were developed with majority shareholder FlexTrade. Proximity, together with the construction of a local data cache and infrastructure for the Asian markets, has enabled the vendor to cut its content refresh times to a second or less, Blanco says. However, it will not use Proximity to source data direct from the Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo stock exchanges but will continue to source its data from feed provider ComStock. Any client wanting to integrate direct feeds into the Traderforce front-ends can do so, but they will need their own exchange gateway servers, Blanco says. BT Radianz had originally planned to deploy Proximity into Asia in the second half of this year, but it brought its plans forward after "we received extraordinary demand from customers to accelerate what we were planning to do in Asia-Pacific," says Kevin Covington, head of product development in London. He says the provider is already seeing demand to extend Proximity to Australia and Korea. Proximity allows users to locate their exchange gateways inside BT Radianz hosting canters close to exchanges for low-latency market data and trading.
